Some Useful Information About Ports and Marinas of the Costa Del Sol

The Costa del Sol is considered as a major tourist destination with sandy beaches and ports or marinas. You can find easily people watching is a popular pastime of the various ports and marinas there. Here are some useful information on some of the main ports and marinas.

Starting in the western section of the Costa del Sol the Sotogrande Marina is well known for being a luxury port area surrounded by expensive apartments and penthouses. This marina is a lot more laid back and attracts the wealthy Spanish as well as a discerning international crowd but without the hustle and bustle of some of the other ports on the Costa del Sol.

The next port along the coast is at Duquesa and this is a very English part of the Costa del Sol.

There are lots of bars and restaurants so boat and people watching is very easy at this marina.

As you continue to head east the next port or marina is at Estepona and this is renowned for being an affordable place in which to moor a boat. On Sunday mornings the marina becomes a market attracting many tourists and people from other parts of the Costa del Sol. Again there are quite a few restaurants although they are not really overlooking the boats due to the way the marina is laid out.

Now we move on to the famous Puerto Banus, probably the most famous port on the Costa del Sol and one that is renowned for people watching. Here you will see some of the most expensive yachts and boats as well as regularly spotting celebrities and sports stars. Shops are mostly designer and the restaurants are some of the best on the Costa del Sol.

Marbella has its own port known locally as the deportivo and although this used to be a sought after marina it no longer attracts the big yachts and boats. However it is still somewhere to head for food and drink overlooking the boats still moored there.

The next main port is at Cabopino and this is again an affordable place to moor a boat. The berths are not as big as in some of the other locations so the boats are a little smaller.

Fuengirola has a marina and again this is one of the more affordable places to moor a boat. There are a few shops and bars around the port but it is more of a working port rather than somewhere to sit and pass time.

Benalmadena is a relatively new marina and the layout means you can eat and people watch from many different locations. It is not as glamorous as some of the other marinas but there are always lots of things to keep you amused day and night.
